The OHuddle Cocoa Express and Christmas workshop on Dec. 6 created some Christmas magic at the Wayne County Children's STEAM Playlab.

As a one-on-one mentorship nonprofit serving over 700 youths in almost every school in Wayne County, OHuddle also mentors a little boy named Trevor, an elementary student who loves trains and had a Christmas wish to host a Santa Train, which OHuddle decided to call the Cocoa Express.

This Friday hundreds of youths attended the Santa Workshop, inspired by Trevor’s dream. The building was transformed into a winter wonderland of lights, live Christmas trees and a Santa Workshop experience.

In addition to riding a mini passenger train, each child had the opportunity to visit Santa, make a gift for three adults in their family, decorate cookies from local baker Miss Amy's Bakery and her elves, receive a full-size wrapped gift from Xcess Limited, and receive a full-size family frozen meal from CrossCountry Mortgage.

Every one of these vendors gave these materials to the community for free. The Wayne County Children's STEAM Playlab is a nonprofit and opened its doors to share its space.

Every OHuddle mentee received a free ticket.

OHuddle expressed thanks to the following sponsors:

—Gold Sponsors: J.M. Smucker Company, CrossCountry Mortgage, and Home Builders Association of Wayne & Holmes Counties.

—Silver Sponsors: Miss Amy's Bakery, Xcess Limited and Sure House Coffee Roasting Company.

—Decor Sponsors: Wayne County Children’s STEAM Playlab & LincWay, Project Live, Orrville Area United Way, Skylar Brook Farm and Smoke Catering Company.

Approximately $12,000 was raised to support mentorship, with an additional $9,700 in donated materials.
