Orrville Cycling and Fitness offers riders more than a bike
Orrville Cycling and Fitness is a local, family-owned bike shop that was first established in 1957.
A little over three years ago, the bike shop was purchased by Clyde Steiner and his family. Steiner has a longtime connection to the bike shop, having worked there in high school, and his 40-year passion for cycling was brought to fruition with the purchase of the shop.
During December the shop is collecting donations for the Orrville Area Boys and Girls Club and will match the donations contributors make up to $5,000. The contributions will be used to support scholarships that enable local youth to engage in programs and activities provided by the Orrville Area Boys and Girls Club.
The bike shop carries a range of bikes, but the primary bike brand the store stocks is Trek Bicycles, an American company.
“We stock a variety of Trek Bicycles including a range of bikes from road, gravel, hybrid, MTB, e-bikes, and children and toddler bicycles,” Orrville Cycling’s Christine Hamilton said. “Our inventory also includes BMX bikes, accessories and parts. We also are a Co-Motion Dealer and showcase Tandem and Steel bikes, which are made in Oregon.
“Our shop is also the sole authorized dealer in Ohio for Time Bike, a manufacturer of high-performance carbon fiber bicycles. The shop also stocks unicycles as well as trikes, which is an adult-sized three-wheeled cycle.”
Like many cycling shops, Orrville Cycling and Fitness has started selling e-bikes, which have grown exponentially in popularity in recent years. E-bikes can be used for long-distance rides or for commutes to and from work, school or errands. The e-bikes sold at the bike shop are all UL certified, which is a globally recognized mark of safety, quality and compliance for products and services, and the bikes also come with a warranty.
The shop also offers repair and maintenance services for all bicycle brands.
“Our shop draws on a combined total of over 150 years of industry experience,” Hamilton said. “When you buy a bike from Orrville Cycling, we offer a 10% discount on our services and maintenance packages.”
The shop also hosts club bike rides every Wednesday during the spring and summer months, with different routes to accommodate any rider’s riding ability.
“These rides are a great way to dedicate time to ride weekly, meet others, have fun and exercise,” Hamilton said. “We are currently exploring whether trail riding is something that would interest riders. Also, it is not uncommon for people to own different bikes for different riding purposes. The shop also sells bike racks, helmets, mirrors, bells, locks, bags and much more.”
Orrville Cycling, located at 9658 W. High St., is the oldest bike shop in the area.
“The shop is a family-friendly bike shop for people of all ages and all riding abilities, from leisure riders to pros,” Hamilton said. “Our bike shop offers an extensive range of bicycles and cycling accessories and gear for the whole family.”
