Pace Landscape Supply opened a new location to offer landscape supplies, manufacturing numerous varieties and colors of mulch. The grand opening for the new store at 428 Carrie Ave. NW in New Philadelphia will be Saturday, May 13 through the end of June.

The grand opening also will bring the Pace Landscape Supply charity mulch drive through the end of June. A portion of proceeds during that time will be donated to Rainbow Connection or to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, said Mike Pace, owner of the new store.

Pace said the location, previously the site of Glass Lumber, became available recently, and he thought it was the right time to be the first to offer bulk mulch. “We’re the first to offer freshly manufactured bulk mulch, either by the load or bagged, for the do-it-yourselfer in the area. You can drive in, quickly load up with mulch from our full one-yard loader or in fresh bags, and be on your way.”

Pace Landscaping Supply utilizes clean wood products to manufacture and color the mulch themselves. “There are no pallets or scrap wood or anything like that,” Pace said. “And because we’re bagging it fresh, you won’t find any of the mold you can often see in bags of mulch that have been sitting around for months or even years.”

Pace said keeping everything in-house, from wood procurement to the final mulch product, enables cost savings passed on to the customer. “And if you bring an advertised price from anywhere else, we’ll match or beat it,” he said.

Mulches offered are made up of 100 percent wood fiber, 50/50 wood fiber and bark, or 100 percent bark. Prices range from $18-$28 per yard with 13 different kinds to choose from.

With 32 years in the landscape business, Pace said he and the staff of the new location are able to offer advice for finding the right mulch for the right application.

The firm also carries topsoil, straw, leaf compost, gravel and limestone, and other products. “We’ll be adding other plant products in time as well,” Pace said. Dried firewood also is available.

Pace said mulch can be applied in the landscape at any time of the year. “You want to put down 2-4 inches of mulch to keep weeds down and retain soil moisture,” he said.

Wood and bark mulches are offered in western brown, cherry brown, natural, black pearl and other colors.

The location carries a western theme with sections marked Bag Saloon, Trading Post and Sheriff’s Office.

“We’re ready to help anyone get a great landscape going for the summer,” Pace said.

In winter Pace Landscaping Supply will offer salt for dissolving ice in bulk loads or by the bucket.
