01/24/ Exhibit by local artists to take place at Millersburg Mennonite Church
An exhibit of works by local artists will be held at Millersburg Mennonite Church, 288 East Jackson Street, on Saturday, Feb. 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit is being organized by the Dandelion Seed Company, an arts community that meets on Thursday evenings at the Living Acts House in downtown Millersburg. Musician and visual artist Caroline Yoder of Millersburg leads the group and hopes the exhibit sparks an interest with other area artists and arts supporters.
I've had the pleasure of interacting with different artists who come to The Dandelion Seed Company. It was encouraging for me to bounce ideas around with this talented group and to see the works of art that are created right here in Holmes County. I wanted to see that kind of sharing and encouragement expand outside of our arts group.
Thats when the idea of an art exhibit open to the community was formed.
I want to see Holmes County's creative side stirred, Yoder said. I know that there is an appreciation for the arts here, and I would love to utilize that interest, to see it inspire artists who are hungry for encouragement.
While many of the works displayed will be for sale, the event will also give attendees an opportunity to share with the artists how their work affects them.
We will have reflection cards allowing feedback and reflections inspired by the artists works available for visitors who are unable to make purchases.
Yoder said there will also be time for musicians to participate in the art event.
I'm encouraging musicians of any type and ability to join us throughout the day for informal jamming. This won't be a performance, but a chance to work with one another in collaboration, to offer another act of creativity for attendees to experience.
There is no cost for attending the event or for participating as an artist or musician.
Im eager to include artists of all ages who feel they have works of art to share with the community. I think this is an excellent opportunity to expand the arts conversation to a larger audience and to the greater Holmes County community.
