SUMMARY: New Jersey man faces felony charges after Sept. 12 crash A New Jersey man has been charged in a Sept. 12 crash that injured four persons. Theodore Glancy, Jr., 60, 334 Elm St., Elwood, is charged in Holmes County Common Pleas Court with one count of felonious assault. The charges stem from an eight-vehicle crash Sept. 12 on state Route 39. The crash occurred at 8:45 a.m. while six vehicles were stopped for road construction in the westbound lane of state Route 39. Glancy, driving a 2000 Mac semi carrying a load of steel, was westbound and rear-ended a car driven by Robert J. Harris, 54, New Philadelphia. Harris, who was at the end of the line of cars, was spun into eastbound traffic coming out of the construction area and was struck by a dump truck. After striking Harris, the semi continued westbound and ended up with its left front wheel atop the passenger side of a 2001 Hyundai. Harris was hospitalized after the crash. The three other persons injured in the crash were treated at area hospitals. In all, three vehicles were reported as totaled and the eight vehicles involved were damaged. The construction zone was clearly marked with orange caution signs, according to Holmes County Sheriff’s reports. A crash reconstruction team with the Ohio State Patrol, Wooster Post, assisted in the investigation. The charge against Glancy carries up to 18 months in prison and a $2,500 fine.
