100311 WHS Homecoming filled with tradition
Summary: Homecoming 2010 was filled with tradition as Wooster High School welcomed back its alumni.
In ceremonies filled with rich tradition, Wooster High School welcomed back its alumni to Follis Field on September 23 for Homecoming 2011.
Among the graduates returning to their alma mater was 2010 Homecoming King Andrew Kreuzman, who crowned senior Joe Bruch as the 2011 Homecoming King during pre-game ceremonies. Wearing the tiara as 2011 Homecoming Queen was senior Kayla Villegas.
The midpoint in the game saw another Wooster Homecoming favorite.
During halftime the Wooster High School Marching Band performed the incomparable Script Woo before a large and appreciative crowd. Script Woo, which originated in 1988 as a senior show, has been a Homecoming tradition for well over 20 years.
The game was also marked by a pair of special ceremonies.
Just prior to kick off the team captains gathered at mid-field for a very special ceremonial coin toss in honor of President Ronald Reagan. Wooster and Mansfield Madison joined high school, college and professional football teams across the nation in commemorating the 100th anniversary of our 40th Presidents birth.
Prior to the start of the third quarter the Wooster City School District also presented Dr. Anthony Tizzano, Medical Director of Cleveland Clinic's Wooster branch, with a plaque recognizing Cleveland Clinics donation of the bleacher jersey recently installed on the back side of the home bleachers.
The Generals ultimately fell to the visiting Mansfield Madison Rams by a final score of 27 to 26, taking Woosters record to 2 and 3 for the season.
The Homecoming game was the highlight of a weeks worth of activities for Spirit Week which included a series of five dress up days, parade, pep rally and semi-formal dance.
