SUMMARY: Fire closes business; Spine and Sport hopes to open soon
A Millersburg business was damaged by fire Tuesday May 3.
Kinetics Fitness For Life, 1237 Glen Drive, suffered heavy smoke and fire damage from a fire that apparently originated in the business cafe area on the main floor. Fire District One Chief Scott Balder said the fire was reported at 4:40 a.m. by an employee coming in to open.
Smoke was showing when the first units arrived. An interior attack quickly put out the blaze, Balder said, but mutual aid assistance was requested immediately.
It is a huge commercial building and heavy smoke was showing, Balder said. We needed extra people to lay in supply lines.
The fire was contained at approximately 5 a.m., Balder said. Mutual aid was provided by Killbuck, Nashville, Holmesville and East Holmes fire departments. No injuries were reported.
The fire further caused smoke damage to Kinetics Spine and Sport, located on the second level. Owner Staush Cass said he hopes to have Spine and Sport ready for clients within a week, but is unsure when Fitness For Life will reopen.
Were not sure on the time frame yet, Cass said. Weve got a lot of great members and we want to open for them as quickly as we can. We appreciate everyones patience as we get that accomplished.
Cass said he will notify members by e-mail when the facilities are up and running again.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Balder said.
