Jitters Coffee House serves up coffee, and much more, with a smile

One year ago, Martin Mann opened Jitters Coffee House with a specific purpose: To serve God by serving the community. He envisioned Jitters as a meeting ground for anyone looking for a friendly environment, a warm meal and an excellent cup of coffee. That vision has been realized in the flourishing coffee house that has quickly become a neighborhood favorite. From frappes to fellowship, bagels to live bands, Jitters Coffee House offers something for everyone every day of the week. From its large list of homemade soups, salads and sandwiches to the assortment of oven-baked goods and ice cream flavors, Jitters provides a variety to suit even the pickiest of palates. Everything is made in-house, ensuring that the fare is always at its freshest. The Huevos Panine, Tomato Tortellini Soup and Buffalo Quesadilla are just a taste of the menu’s assorted offerings. Jitters has carved out a niche by offering simple, unpretentious food with an unexpected twist. For example, Jitters’ most popular salad is the Grilled Chicken Cobb. Diners can dig into a bed of fresh greens layered with chicken, eggs, olives, avocado, cheddar cheese and dried cranberries. The Jitters Monte Cristo, just one of a variety of innovative sandwiches and wraps on the menu, features tender roast beef and turkey with cranberry sauce, cheddar cheese and maple syrup served on a house-made multigrain Ciabatta roll. The beverage menu also adds unexpected flair to traditional drinks. Aside from offering the traditional coffee, cappuccinos, lattes and espressos, Jitters has over 40 flavors of coffee syrups, including surprising flavors such as butter pecan, gingerbread, tiramisu, pumpkin spice and toasted marshmallow. Customers can enjoy The Jitters, the shop’s signature chocolate and macadamia nut latte or satisfy a sweet tooth with one of Jitter’s new candy bar drinks in Snickers or Almond Joy. Italian sodas, hot chocolate and smoothies offer delicious alternatives, as does the Oregon Chai, made with black tea, honey, vanilla and milk. A much-loved confection will be added to the already plentiful dine-in and to-go breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert options. Jitters plans to provide the community with fresh house made donuts to accompany the already excellent coffee. Besides providing delectable noshes, Jitters caters to more than just appetites. The coffee shop-cum-community center offers other conveniences to its customers. Jitters is furnished with free wi-fi Internet connection, the reason for the number of loungers leisurely working over laptops and sipping lattes. A conference room equipped with a projector, DVD player and large table is available upon reservation for anniversaries, lunches, business seminars, Bible studies or any other social gathering. And every Saturday night, live bands perform on the Jitters stage, causing the coffee shop to echo with music from a variety of genres, including Celtic, bluegrass, Southern gospel and contemporary Christian rock. When the music attracts a lively crowd to eat, talk and listen to the bands, the usually quite coffee shop is electrified with the energy of over a hundred people getting together. Mann described the excited energy of a packed Saturday night. “People are talking, enjoying the food, enjoying the band, enjoying the company and enjoying the energy created when a lot of people are in one place.” This dynamic shop has just that- an energy.
