Killbuck Early American Days

Each year on Labor Day Weekend, the residents of Killbuck invite friends, family and visitors to the region to Killbuck Early American Days. Originally, an event to thank the local residents after the Holmes County Independence Day flood of 1969, today the festival serves as a homecoming to the many people connected to the tight-knit community. The two-day event runs Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 in the village. Visitors can enjoy a flea market, food vendors and plenty of live entertainment including karaoke and a DJ and Rube Band on Saturday, gospel music by Larry Frenette and even Elvis and Band on Sunday. Check out what is happening at the restored Duncan Theater. Softball, tractor pulls and a pooch parade are scheduled, as is the Hawkins Lumber Show, a festival mainstay. There will be plenty of kid’s games, a hot dog eating contest and the cutest baby contest. Visitors can indulge in a delicious chicken barbeque to benefit the VFW and West Holmes Youth Football and enjoy a show by the West Holmes Marching Band. There is so much to do at the Killbuck Early American Days. You will be sure to run into old friends and perhaps make new ones at the annual event that has been the unofficial end to summer in Holmes County for more than 40 years.
