Snow rollers
It is an unusual occurrence in Ohio, but over the past few days conditions have been right to create snow rollers. The ones here were snapped on The College of Wooster golf course by photographer Karen Skubik. They are nature-made snowballs, created when the temperatures were near freezing. A bit of ice formed on some snow and the wind pushed that snow, while the ice allowed more snow to stick as the snowball rolled along. Snow rollers are not tightly packed like snowballs and usually cannot even be picked up.
