Golf outing exceeds fundraising goal

The Tuscarawas County YMCA held its annual YMCA-Craig Rader Memorial Golf Outing on Aug. 15 at Oak Shadows Golf Club in New Philadelphia. The outing is a major fundraiser for the Y’s annual campaign.
The Y’s goal was to raise $17,000 from the event. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors and golfers, the Y surpassed that goal to raise $20,248. All profits from the golf outing benefit the YMCA’s annual campaign, which provides direct financial assistance for membership and programs such as preschool, summer day camp, after-school care, swim lessons, youth sports, and many health and wellness programs for area youth and families in need.
The name of the golf outing was changed this year to honor Craig Rader, a longtime YMCA supporter, former board member and friend to many in the community.
“Craig was loved by so many people at the Y and was always ready to support us in whatever way was needed. I am grateful we could honor his legacy of kindness and generosity by raising funds to give back to those in need in our community,” said Jenny Dallas, executive assistant and event coordinator.
The Y expressed thanks to the businesses and individuals who sponsored the event and donated items and to the teams that played. The golf outing fundraiser wouldn’t be possible without the support of the community, YMCA members, staff and volunteers. Twenty-five teams played in the outing this year, and 35 companies, families and individuals sponsored the event.
