A New Philadelphia family practitioner, Dr. Kindra Browning, was recently named Preceptor All-Star by The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Preceptors are extensions of the medical school faculty who invite medical students to work with them in their private practices and gain experience from supervised patient contact. Recognition as an all-star comes from the students themselves. Ohio State medical students who worked with Dr. Browning praised her general medical knowledge, ability to interact with patients and students, enthusiasm for teaching, and for being an excellent physician role model. One student wrote, “Dr. Browning is especially enthusiastic about medicine. She energizes all those around her, including her patients and staff. A very motivated and incredibly talented teacher, she is passionate about teaching, and always takes time to ensure a student’s progress. I was impressed by how Dr. Browning has integrated technology into her everyday practice so well.” According to Dr. Terry Bahn, director of outreach and engagement at the OSU College of Medicine, physicians like Dr. Browning participate in medical student teaching because they want to give back to the college of medicine by serving as mentors to future doctors. Bahn stated, “Ohio State is fortunate to have a large number of willing community preceptors, and Dr. Browning is among the best.”
