From Academy Award-nominated director Scott Hamilton Kennedy and narrated by esteemed science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson, “Food Evolution” will be shown Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 5:30 p.m. at Fisher Auditorium on OSU's Wooster campus of the  College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at 1680 Madison Ave.

“Food Evolution” is set amidst a debate surrounding GMOs and food. Traveling from Hawaiian papaya groves, to banana farms in Uganda, to the cornfields of Iowa, “Food Evolution” enlists experts such as Mark Lynas, Alison Van Eenennaam, Jeffrey Smith, Andrew Kimbrell, Vandana Shiva, Robert Fraley, Marion Nestle and Bill Nye as well as farmers and scientists from around the world.

While the passionate advocates on all sides of this debate agree on the need for safe, nutritious and sustainable food for the planet, their differing views over what constitutes the truth have pitted them against each other, rendering the subject of food itself into an ideological battleground.

A panel discussion will follow the screening that includes Dr. Cathann Kress, dean of the CFAES and vice president for Agricultural Administration; Dr. Gabe Middleton, a local veterinarian who is president-elect of the Council for Agriculture Science and Technology; Glenn Mott, vice president of compliance at Gerber Poultry Inc.; and Dr. Jarrod Tudor, dean of University of Akron Wayne College.
