Wooster Community Hospital Health System has earned a five-star rating under the Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings for 2020 by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. WCH is one of 407 U.S. hospitals to receive a five-star rating out of 4,500 nationwide.

CMS assigns star ratings to U.S. hospitals under its Hospital Compare online tool. This information is intended to help patients compare hospitals based on quality data. Under the Hospital Compare program, CMS assigns star ratings of one, two, three, four or five to U.S. hospitals. Ratings are based on a hospital’s performance across seven areas of quality: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care and efficient use of medical imaging.

The 2020 ratings are the first star ratings update since February 2019.

“In a world in which customers use star rankings to help make product and service decisions, we are pleased to have attained the highest ranking — five stars — from Medicare,” said Bill Sheron, CEO/president of Wooster Community Hospital. “This again validates our hospital’s commitment to clinical excellence.”

Wooster Community Hospital Health System is a 172-bed, full-service and acute-care facility. Located in Wooster, WCH is an award-winning hospital that offers a complete range of inpatient and outpatient services. WCH is the second-largest employer in Wayne County and has been a five-time recipient of the IBM Watson 100 Top Hospital award. For more information visit www.woosterhospital.org.
