Union Hospital go-to guy nominated for statewide recognition

Hundreds of people know Union Hospitals Jeremy Klaserner as the physical therapist who helped them to walk again after a joint replacement, to recover from a debilitating stroke, or to get back on the football field after knee surgery.
Hundreds of his colleagues at Union Hospital know Jeremy Klaserner not only as the coordinator of outpatient rehabilitation at the UH Healthplex, but also as an enthusiastic team member, cheerleader and community booster. For those reasons, Klaserner has been nominated by Union Hospital to the Ohio Hospital Association as its candidate for statewide recognition as The Ohio Healthcare Worker of the Year.
Jeremy has outstanding clinical skills and a real commitment to his patients successful recovery, according to Rick Cole, director of rehabilitation at Union Hospital. He has achieved his degree as a doctor of physical therapy, is a clinical specialist at vestibular rehabilitation, and is passionate about all that he does at the UH Healthplex and about Union Hospital as an important community institution.
Klaserner, 35, graduated from Indian Valley High School and Bowling Green State University. He began his career as a physical therapist at Union Hospital in 2001. He obtained a masters of business administration degree from Malone College in 2004 and doctor of physical therapy degree from the College of Saint Scholastica in 2010. Klaserner lives in Dover with his wife Kari and three daughters.
Every year we honor an employee as our Healthcare Worker of the Year and nominate them to the OHA for statewide recognition, said Bruce James, president and CEO. Jeremy embodies all that we value through a combination of skill, compassion, and great enthusiasm for his patients, co-workers and the entire hospital.
Carey Gardner, director of development and community relations, added that Klaserner is a great asset both to the hospital and to the entire community.
Jeremy is one of our go-to people when something needs to be accomplished, Gardner said. He participates on many committees focused on clinical quality and staff development. He organized the Healthplex staff to collect bicycles for Share-A-Christmas and is an advocate for health care careers to young people.
It is an honor to be recognized by Union Hospital in this manner, Klaserner said. The Union Hospital team works very hard to provide quality patient care and service excellence. I am humbled by this nomination and proud to represent the hundreds of great people at Union Hospital.
Gardner said many hospitals around the state nominate an employee for the award. Nominations will be reviewed and four semifinalists will be announced by the Ohio Hospital Association. The award winner will be named at the OHA annual conference in Columbus in June.
