The Wayne County Health Department, in collaboration with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, will host its next monthly pop-up food pantry on Tuesday, June 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of its offices at 244 W. South St. in Wooster.

Individuals and families can receive food if their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level ($30,120 per year for individuals and adding $10,760 per year for each additional family member). For example, a family of four whose annual household income is $62,400 or less would be eligible.

This pantry will again be market-style like last month, versus the drive-thru style over the winter. Assistance will be available for those who have mobility issues.

“We served over 90 families in May,” said Dr. Nicholas Cascarelli, Wayne County health commissioner. “We are very excited to continue the market-style pantry. Many who came last month really liked it.”

The health department asks that anyone attending the food pantry not park in the United Way or Wayne Center for the Arts parking lots. They need those parking spots for their clients, employees and visitors. Attendees can park in the lot between the health department and the United Way.

Anyone interested in volunteering to help with the pop-up pantry can call the Wayne County Health Department at 330-264-9590 ext. 207.
