When springtime rolls around, most people are more than ready to watch things get green and add some color and aroma to their home, landscaping or office with some spring flowers and plants.

The Pomerene Hospital Auxiliary announced its annual Flower/Plant Sale, scheduled to take place Tuesday, May 7 at 7 a.m. in Pomerene Hospital’s auditorium, located on the second floor.

There will be a bevy of plants and flowers from which to choose, and the sale will continue until all plants are sold out, but there is always a rush to come in early and get started in picking out the favorites.

Green-thumbed enthusiasts and floral aficionados alike are invited to browse through a selection of planters, hanging baskets, succulents and house plants, curated to add a burst of life and color to any home or garden.

Whether attendees are seeking a vibrant centerpiece for their patio or a charming addition to their indoor oasis, there will be an array of options to suit every taste and style.

And by participating in this event, patrons will not only enhance their living spaces, but also contribute to a noble cause. All proceeds from the sale will directly benefit the Pomerene Hospital Auxiliary, dedicated to supporting the mission of Pomerene Hospital in providing healthcare services to the community.

“This has always been a really nice fundraiser for us, and it’s important because it allows us to continue our mission of supporting the hospital and everything it does for the community,” Susan Miller of the auxiliary said.

Over the years the auxiliary has played a critical role in adding new and needed additions to the hospital while continuing to serve a key role in maintaining a beautiful presence throughout the facility.

According to Miller, the group’s 54-member volunteer team delivers documents and other items throughout the hospital, keeps the gift shop humming, provides coffee, and keeps everything neat and clean in the lobby and other areas.

Just as importantly, it serves a role for both patients and staff, providing smiling and cheerful attitudes and being uplifting to everyone they meet.

“That’s kind of an unsung thing, but so much of what the auxiliary does is kind of behind the scenes,” Miller said. “But that’s the way we like it.”

Adding to the many benefits the auxiliary performs is they have been able to purchase additional equipment and furniture that extends beyond the hospital’s budget.

Miller said this year Pomerene Hospital is purchasing a new transportation van, and the auxiliary is purchasing a ramp lift to create handicap accessibility.

They also have purchased new wheelchairs and will purchase new furniture for the lobby, where they will repaint to create a cheerier atmosphere.

“We do what we can to create a cleaner, more inviting environment,” Miller said. “That’s why this fundraiser is an important part of every year for us.”

Mark your calendars and join the auxiliary members on May 7 for a blooming extravaganza.

“Together, let’s cultivate beauty and compassion while nurturing the health of our community,” Miller said.
