Letter to the Editor:
I’m writing this letter in support of the election of Michael W. Rickett for Wayne County Municipal Court judge. Rickett is currently serving as Wayne County chief criminal assistant prosecuting attorney and law enforcement liaison. During his 12 years as a county prosecutor in Summit and Wayne counties, he has successfully tried 41 felony jury trials and handled thousands of pleas, cases and bench trials.
As chief of the criminal trial division of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office, Rickett supervises the activities of two felony division prosecutors, three misdemeanor prosecutors and four support staff. His most recent court trial was the successful conviction of Paul Claren for aggravated murder.
I personally attended this trial and was very impressed with Rickett’s prosecutorial ability in securing a conviction and taking a very dangerous person off the streets of Wayne County.
Rickett is committed to upholding the legal rights of every citizen of Wayne County. That commitment is very evident by his strong adherence to the rule of law.
Rickett is a devoted family man and has been married to his wife Robin for 17 years and is the father of three daughters. He is very active in his church and is very involved in his children’s school and sports activities.
He was named the University of Akron School of Law’s Outstanding Adjunct Professor and currently teaches a business law class at OSU-ATI.
I urge you to carefully consider the qualifications of all three candidates running for Municipal Court judge.
I think you will agree that Rickett is by far the best qualified person to serve as the next Wayne County Municipal Court judge.
Thank You.
