The Ohio Valley Chapter of the Historical Construction Equipment Association announced the 16th annual Old Construction & Mining Equipment Show will be Sept. 7 and 8 on Ohio 519 (Stumptown Road) between U.S. 22 and New Athens, just over 1 mile west of New Athens.

Antique trucks and construction and mining equipment will be on static display and in operation throughout the weekend.

Equipment owned by the Harrison Coal & Reclamation Historical Park, members of the HCRHP, Ohio Valley Chapter of the Historical Construction Equipment Association, Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club Chapter 22 and other organizations will be displayed or in operation such as draglines, shovels, trucks, crawlers, dozers and more.

The show will run Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Silver Spade operators cab and bucket are located on the grounds. The Silver Spade operators cab was painted in 2017 to the original colors it was in 1965.

During show time and special events, the location is open to the public.

The event had some commercial exhibitors, employment recruiters and book authors in the past including Kerry George, author of "Black Damp Century." George is a former surface and underground coal miner and retired MSHA inspector.

Edgar Browning, author of "Ohio Road Building" and related books for other states, has expressed interest in being at the show this year. It will be posted on the Facebook page once official Browning will be at the show.

The event has become a miners and construction workers reunion. Many people that have worked or currently still work in the mining, construction and excavating industries have attended the show in the past. Many tell their stories of the machinery of the past.

There will be a barbeque food stand by Two Guys and a Grill Southern Style Barbeque. Some of the tentative food items include pulled pork, fish, burgers, loaded baked potatoes and other items.

All antique trucks and construction, crawler and mining (surface or underground) equipment are welcome. Machinery, volunteers and equipment operators have come from Western Pennsylvania, the Columbus area, the Dayton/Cincinnati area, and Northeast and Southeast Ohio over the past years.

Exhibitor camping is available on site. Photo and history displays also are welcome.

Friday will be set-up day for anyone wishing to bring in their antique trucks, crawler, construction and mining equipment before the show.

Admission is $3 per person.
