Together with seven others Anne Frank hides in the secret annex at Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. After more than two years in hiding, they are discovered and deported to concentration camps. Anne’s father, Otto Frank, is the only one of the eight people to survive. After her death Anne becomes world famous because of the diary she wrote while in hiding.

                        

Orrville Community Theater will host auditions for its February production of “The Diary of Anne Frank” on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 5-7 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 6 from 2-4 p.m. at the theater located at 307 Hostetler Road in Orrville.

Thespians over the age of 13 are encouraged to audition.

Roles include Otto Frank, Anne’s polite and practical father; Edith Frank, Anne’s reserved and nervous mother; Margot Frank, Anne’s older sister; Anne Frank, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank, who is a lively, curious girl of 13 at the beginning of the play; Putti Van Daan, an irritable former business partner of Mr. Frank; Petronella Van Daan, Mr. Van Daan’s vain and finicky wife; Peter Van Daan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan, who is a shy, quiet teenage boy; Jan Dussell, difficult to get along with and joins the Franks and the Van Daans; Miep, a very well-liked, generous secretary in Mr. Frank’s office; and Mr. Kraler, a businessman who works with Miep to help protect the people in hiding.

Show dates for the production will be Feb. 22-24 with Friday and Saturday shows beginning at 7 p.m. and the Sunday show at 2 p.m.

“The Diary of Anne Frank” was written by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett and was newly adapted by Wendy Kesselman.
