This family-friendly 3-mile run and walk follows the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail from Fort Laurens Museum in Bolivar to the Canal Lands Park trailhead in Zoar.

                        

The Tuscarawas County Park Department and the Canal Lands Development Committee will host their 10th annual Canal Tavern 5k Run & Walk on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.

This family-friendly 3-mile run and walk follows the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail from Fort Laurens Museum in Bolivar to the Canal Lands Park trailhead in Zoar.

Registration forms can be found online at www.tuscparks.com or www.fb.com/tuscparks.com under the Canal Tavern 5k Run & Walk event page.

Participant check-in and same-day registration will be held at the Canal Tavern of Zoar at 8808 Towpath Road NE, Bolivar, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. This is an electronically chip timed race. All proceeds will be used for maintenance and development of Canal Lands Park.

Free shuttles from the Canal Tavern of Zoar (end) to Fort Laurens Museum (start) depart at noon and 12:30 p.m.

After the race there will be an Octoberfest-style party on the patio of the Canal Tavern of Zoar. Registration includes food and one beer or soft drink. Awards will be presented for the top-three men, women and finishers in each age group.

Registration forms received by Thursday, Sept. 23 are $30 per runner and include a guaranteed race shirt. Registrations after that date are $35 per runner, and shirts will be made available while supplies last. This event will follow local health protocols, and participants are asked to self-evaluate before attending.
