Civil War Roundtable offers living history
Rick Williams will present Gen. George Armstrong Custer at the Nov. 21 Civil War Roundtable at 6 p.m. at the Wooster branch of the Wayne County Library.
Williams began portraying Custer in 2003. He has researched Custer’s life in detail, and all of Custer’s travels, encounters and engagements are coalesced into a comprehensive presentation.
He regales his audience with famous and little-known events of Custer’s life including early and family years, West Point years, Civil War record, Plains War years, suspension from the Army, and the Little Bighorn Campaign.
Williams also is a veteran cavalry re-enactor with more than 15 years in the saddle and has appeared from Virginia, to Montana, to California. He has appeared on the History Channel, the Discovery Channel, the Outdoor Channel and the Smithsonian Channel.
Movie credits include "Gods & Generals" (2003), "Reel Injun" (2011) and numerous documentaries. He has been Gen. Custer at the Custer’s Last Stand Re-enactment in Hardin, Montana, since 2007 and is the official Gen. Custer at the Custer Memorial Association in Custer’s birthplace of New Rumley, Ohio.
