Dulcimers n Such to perform May 30 at OrrVilla Retirement Community
OrrVilla Retirement Community would like to invite the public to attend a concert by Dulcimers n Such on Wednesday, May 30, at 2:30 p.m., in the Maple Terrace assisted living building located at 333 E. Sassafras St. in Orrville.
Dulcimers n Such plays a mix of music, including Appalachian, old-time, and Celtic music, with a good helping of hymns and traditional tunes thrown in. Under the leadership of Ray Halter, theyve played at nursing homes, churches, senior centers, parties, reunions, madrigal feasts, pig roasts, and many other festivities.
Dulcimers n Such is a musical group that plays a variety of instruments. Most play the mountain dulcimer, also known as the Appalachian or lap dulcimer, which is one of the two truly American instruments, the other being the five-string banjo. The n Such in the groups name includes guitars, autoharp, harmonica, kalimba, banjimer, washtub bass, tambourine, spoons, and an occasional mandolin and limberjack.
The musicians hail from Stark, Wayne, Ashland, Medina and Summit counties. The members are: Ray Halter, Pat Halter, Becky Chevraux, Betty Lance, Doreen Leaf-Hund, David Halter, Linda Pack, Bob Pack, Wanda Lengacher, Gene Johnson, Connie Johnson, Rodney Milburn, Faye Milburn, Bill Ferguson, Genisue Ferguson, Luke Tucker, Clayton Welch, and Dorothy Welch. They share a love of music and most importantly, they share good friendship.
