Dover City Schools officials report a small fire broke out in the ice machine room in the home locker room side of Crater Stadium today. The fire was quickly contained, and there were no injuries reported.

The Dover Fire Department was called to the scene at 10:15 am. They quickly extinguished the fire and assisted in ensuring the stadium was safe.

Superintendent Karie McCrate said, “As always, the school district expresses gratitude to the Dover Fire Department for its prompt response and their commitment to ensuring the safety of everyone involved.” McCrate said there were no students at Crater Stadium at the time of the fire.

The home side of the locker room will be closed until further notice as the investigation and cleaning is complete. The official cause of the fire remains unknown and, per protocol, the Dover Fire Department is completing a full investigation. The financial amount of the damages is yet to be determined.

The district assures everyone appropriate measures are being taken to ensure the continued safety of students and staff. Parents and guardians of students at Dover City Schools are encouraged to contact the school district if they have any questions or concerns about the incident.
