OBITUARY

                        
Beatrice M. Byers, 86, of Barnhill, died March 4, 2010, at New Dawn Retirement Center, Dover, following a period of declining health. A daughter of the late H. Floyd and Abbie Huntley, Beatrice was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Staunton, Va. A graduate of Beverly Manor High School, Virginia, she worked as a press operator at the former Puritan Laundry Company, New Philadelphia. Additionally, she held a life membership with the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. In her younger years, Beatrice enjoyed playing cards and keeping busy with projects. Most of all, she had a lively spirit, loved caring for others, and would help anyone in need. Surviving are sons, Charles E. Byers Jr. of Uhrichsville and Harvey (Vickie) Byers of Barnhill; sister, Ferraba Collier of Virginia; brother, Russell (Pat) Huntley of Virginia; brother-in-law, Kennan Grant of Virginia; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Byers Sr.; sisters, Katherine Grant and Dorothy Stone; and brothers, Arthur and James Huntley. Services will be held March 6, 2010, at 10 a.m., at the Linn-Hert-Geib chapel, with Pastor Harry Milligan officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia.
