Hiland advances to Regional final

Noelle Yoder buried a 3-pointer as time expired to send the game into overtime, and the Lady Hawks rode the wave of momentum to a 57-52 triumph over Lutheran East. Hiland trailed from the first possession of the game all the way until time expired, but kept plugging away and chipping away at the Falcons’ lead. Things looked bleak for Hiland when Jessica Stutzman was unable to make a layup with 20 seconds remaining that would’ve tied the game. Latisha Walker was fouled on the rebound, and the tired Lutheran East post player converted only one of the resulting two free throws to give the Falcons a 44-41 lead with five seconds to play. After a timeout, Stutzman inbounded the ball to Hilary Weaver, who drove up the floor and delivered a perfect pass to Yoder in the corner, who stroked her fifth triple of the game as time expired, sending the game into overtime, where Hiland outscored the Falcons 13-8 to advance to the finals on Saturday against Cuyahoga Heights, a 40-39 winner in overtime.
