NOSL finals to be in Mt. Vernon
The Northern Ohio Soccer League has announced that the 2023 NOSL Finals will be hosted at Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s CH4 Stadium on Saturday, July 22. The inaugural women’s final will kick off at 4:30 p.m. while the men’s final has a 7:30 p.m. start time.
CH4 Stadium opened in 2022 with a seating capacity of 500, a press box, patio seating, restrooms and concessions after brand new turf and lights were installed in 2019. Additional features include a walkout tunnel and covered dugout benches to shield teams from the sun or weather. A fully-furnished press box and camera deck will allow both games to be live streamed by WMFD in Mansfield.
Admission is free for both games and gates will open for fans at 3:30 p.m. with official league programs being available for the first 100 fans in attendance at both games. Food will be on site for both games and other activities such as giveaways and contests will take place throughout the evening. The MVP awards ceremony for both the men’s and women’s leagues will be handed out in between games.
“We are very excited to host this year’s finals at MVNU,” said league Director of Operations Braden Mast. “We are excited about going to Mount Vernon first because of the beautiful new, soccer-specific venue and secondly, because of it being a potential expansion location for the NOSL.”
The men’s NOSL Playoffs began this week with quarterfinals matchups and both the men’s and women’s semifinals will be held on Saturday, July 15. Last season’s finalists The City of Ohio SC and Greater Columbus FC have clinched home field advantage and a bye to the semifinals on the men’s side, while The City of Ohio’s women’s team has also clinched home field advantage for the semifinals. Delaware Rising, Mansfield Liederkranz and Panthers FC round out the field of playoff teams on the women’s side. In the men’s division, Ashland United has clinched a playoff berth, leaving only three spots available for the quartet of Ambassadors FC Ohio (18 points), Delaware Rising (18), FC Donau Mansfield (18) and Gavrilo Princip (15).
