Slow start buries Hawks at Central

                        
Hiland stumbled out of the gate and the Tuscarawas Central Catholic Saints helped the Hawks fall 71-53 Tuesday, Feb. 2, in New Philadelphia. Hiland managed only seven points in the first period as TCC jumped out to a 25-7 lead after the opening eight minutes of action. The Saints held a 36-22 lead at the half and continued to keep the Hawks at bay in the second half. Dylan Kaufman led the Hiland attack with 15 points, and Josh Yoder buried four 3-pointers on his way to 13 points. Luke Burch chipped in nine points and Jalen Miller and Braden Conn each added six. Noah Boyd was held to four points. TCC had four players in double figures, led by Brandon Sweet with 20 and Tyler Sunderlin with 17. Jimmy Fickes and Sam Fondriest each added 11 for the winners.
