The Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County will host the East Region Ohio Community Theatre Association Festival on Saturday at Dover High School. The event serves as a precursor to the statewide OCTA conference, scheduled over Labor Day weekend at the Knox Memorial Theater in Mount Vernon.

Three theater groups from the East District will present excerpts from productions staged during their current seasons. The Waterford Players will perform a scene from “Sylvia” at 9:30 a.m., followed by Zanesville Community Theatre’s excerpt from “Medea” at 10:30 a.m. The Little Theatre will perform from “Sweet Delilah Swim Club” at 12:30 p.m.

Each performance must be completed in 40 minutes or less and staged within a designated area. One excerpt and one alternate will be selected by a panel of OCTA responders to advance to the state festival. This year’s responders are Denise A. Schneiders, Theresa Benyo-Marqullo and Jim Waldfogle. Awards will be announced at 3 p.m.

Lunch will be available from Black Sheep Salads food truck, located in Tornado Alley outside the venue. The vendor will offer made-to-order salads, tacos, nachos, wraps, hot dogs and coneys. Payment options include cash, Venmo and Cash App. Credit and debit cards will not be accepted.

Admission is $10 at the door. OCTA patron merchandise and T-shirts will be available for purchase, and 50-50 raffle tickets will be sold.

“This is a great opportunity for the public to see three shows for one price,” said Machelle Miller, regional representative. “OCTA is an important event that highlights the creativity and talent in our local community theaters. We’re excited to participate.”

Dover High School is located at 520 N. Walnut St.
