Letter to the Editor,

This response is to Ellen Pill’s article about the possible deportation of the Haitian family. First, I agree Haiti is dangerous and lawless. It is a grave concern that their son and daughter would be in danger. I myself have children and wouldn’t want them going there.

But why is America the safest and best nation? The answer is simply we are a free nation built on laws mapped out by the Founding Fathers.

Haiti is lawless and ruled by evil, heartless gangs. Therefore, it is an anarchy!

I don’t want to see this fine family, the Aristildes, deported into such a mess.

I am very much aware of the condition of Haiti because of the aging American couple who runs Love A Child. This organization tries to help, and they themselves are in danger. Please visit www.loveachild.com for more information. They might be able to help this family if they go back to Haiti.

Now concerning the statement that this family has legal status, “humanitarian parole program,” to my knowledge, was brought about by the previous administration and is not really a law. It does not comply with our laws that help keep law, order and freedom.

Although our legal immigration system isn’t perfect, I believe it is still the best in the world. That’s not to say it couldn’t use a little bit of improvement, but it’s not good to say the humanitarian parole program is a constitutional law.

We, as Wayne County residents, need to band together and help this dear family. Our nation does offer amnesty. This could be a legal path to take.

Please, people of faith, lift this family in prayer and call our representatives and request immediate help and amnesty for the Aristilde family!

In Jesus’ love,

Pastor Don R. Meager
