Support for the local arts projects is coming from Tuscarawas Arts Partnership in the form of grants for 2025. The grant is available for arts, culture and creative projects and programs. This grant, set at up to $1,500, is ready for applicants, with a deadline for applications on Sept. 27. Grantees will be notified Nov. 13 this year.

Applications for grants may be found online at www.tuscarawasartspartnership.org. There is no longer a requirement to submit applications on paper. Applications have been open since the end of May.

“The application process is open for projects and programs that people are seeking to request funding for in 2025,” Tuscarawas Arts Partnership Executive Director Wilma Mullet said. “It’s open to individual artists both amateur and professional, to organizations, and for people who would like to start something like a festival. We’re leaving it pretty open for people who want to do something that is project based or program based. Programs might include children’s workshops, anything to do with arts and culture in our area, or a project like public art or a class of some kind.”

Mullet talked of past recipients and their arts projects. “A good example is the project Josh Compton did about the music of Schoenbrunn. Pin Drop Shop in Uhrichsville has received funding from us for their fiber arts festival. The Tuscarawas Philharmonic has received funding for their concert series with children. We funded classes for young children all the way up through senior citizens at the YMCA, as well as for projects with ARTSNCT in Newcomerstown. The possibilities are pretty wide.”

Mullet suggested interested artists have a look at the application information on the website to check eligibility and learn more about how the process works.

“You can go on there and check the eligibility section to see if your project or program meets with our mission statement, which is to cultivate and support the arts landscape across our community. If it does, you can start the application process. That it is online is new this year, so it’s a simpler process. You can start out, save progress and submit when it’s complete and you’re ready. That should help people out with being able to keep everything all together in one place,” Mullet said.

Next year’s grant will fund projects and programs falling between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2025.

“The grant is made possible by partners for the arts who are general donors to Tuscarawas Arts Partnership,” Mullet said. “We have a unique 70/30 model where 70% of funds remain in our organization to support operations. We make sure to set aside 30% for the grant trust. We make sure we will always continually invest in our community with each donation that is made.”

Some examples of what kind of projects and programs might find funding via the grant are those that might hire actors or directors to create a children’s theater workshop, a partnership between artists and local business, community art projects open to public participation, a pop-up dance studio in a downtown square, creative writing projects or public readings, or creative workshops hosted by professional artists.

Funding would not be offered for things like projects that also would earn academic credit, benefit activities, cash or prizes, competitions, payments to lobbyists, or performances and exhibits not open to the general public.

Donations to the Tuscarawas Arts Partnership are always welcome. Visit www.tuscarawasartspartnership.org.
