In Holmes County, relationships, communities and serving others are paramount to the success of so many area businesses.

Recently, families throughout Millersburg and beyond had a chance to come together as one to enjoy a day of fun in the sun.

Commercial & Savings Bank’s Community Party in Millersburg on Saturday, Aug. 17 had nothing to do with banking and everything to do with joining the community for a day of family fun.

Under the large tent sat many of the adults who came to dine and fellowship, and out in the parking lot, kids enjoyed blow-up pits; balloon artist Deb Schrock, who was cranking out balloon creatures big and small; a photo booth from Thanks for the Memories; and plenty of other games and activities.

According to Brett Gallion, CSB president, the event was designed as a simple way of celebrating community.

“A few years ago, we decided it was very important to give back to our communities that have supported our bank for so long in a fun, interactive way,” Gallion said. “So we started the community party.”

He said it began in Shreve, and every year they have traveled around the many CSB locations throughout the area to celebrate with the public.

Gallion said they have always geared the event toward families, offering all kinds of food and bounce houses, along with giveaways, providing a little something for everyone but devoted largely to the kids.

He said creating a fun and interactive event was central to what a community bank should be, part of the community.

“You can’t be a community bank if you’re not connecting with the community, and that’s a huge part of who we are,” Gallion said. “We are so fortunate to have so many amazing people and families in our area, and we are proud to serve each of the communities where we have CSB offices.”

He also said this event is a great way for the CSB employees to connect and build relationships outside the workplace, making the event an even more positive experience all around.
