As demand for personalized fitness continues to grow, My Personal Trainer in Dover is meeting the moment with a tailored approach. Under the leadership of owner Eric Schaefer, the facility provides a training model designed to support sustainable health and wellness.

A key feature of the program is a team of trainers who have completed the My Personal Trainer certification. This ensures all clients receive consistent instruction.

New clients begin with a personal assessment that goes beyond a basic fitness evaluation. Schaefer and his team review each client’s health history, medications, previous exercise experiences and personal goals to develop a targeted plan.

“When clients come in, we go over their goals and objectives,” Schaefer said. “We want to understand their history and what has or hasn’t worked for them in the past.”

Training sessions are short but intense. Clients train twice a week for 20 minutes per session. Schaefer said it’s not the length of the workout but the effort and intensity that determine outcomes. Within two weeks clients are encouraged to work toward losing approximately 1 pound per session — a goal Schaefer calls both realistic and sustainable.

The program also includes nutritional guidance. Instead of prescribing meal plans, Schaefer educates clients about calorie management in relation to their fitness goals.

“We don’t tell them what to eat but focus on how much and when to eat,” he said.

Schaefer also addresses the importance of muscle-building, particularly for women over 50 who face natural muscle decline and metabolic slowdowns.

“The key to your metabolism is putting muscle on your body,” he said. “It’s as close to the Fountain of Youth as you can get without surgery.”

Affordability sets the program apart, with costs averaging 70% less than comparable personal training services in Northeast Ohio, according to Schaefer. Scheduling flexibility also is a priority, with weekday sessions offered from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“We want clients who are committed to getting results,” Schaefer said.
