Nashville TOPS meeting news

                        
On Nov. 10, TOPS OH1573 Nashville welcomed a former member back and also welcomed Karen Lykins as a guest. Winners of the seven-month walking contest were named.First place went to Barbara Shaum, walking 951 miles. Second place went to Jody Shaum, walking 835 miles. Third place went to Janice Tope, walking 343 miles. Tom Alexander exceeded his pledge of biking. He biked 849 miles. Also exceeding their pledges for walking were Bonnie Porter with 253 miles and Odessa Ferris with 162 miles. Nine members recited the TOPS and KOPS pledges. Leonard Jones was the best weekly loser. He told them to eat less and eat slower. Janice Tope was the best weekly-rededicated loser. She said to drink at least six 8-ounce glasses of water per day. Lana Rush was the best weekly KOPS. She said to be careful with any evening snacking. Lana Rush presented a program from Prevention Magazine. She read several common myths about relieving stress and why they do not work. One is do not go to bed angry. Often we need overnight to cool off before confronting an issue. Don’t throw temper tantrums. Many times venting anger relieves stress. The article recommended cuddling up with a pet. The author said not to talk on and on about a problem, there comes a time when we need to get on with life and let it go. Also, dark chocolate has nutrients that reduce stress. Bonnie Porter will have the program next week.
