Smithville Community Historical Society March meeting news

                        
The Smithville Community Historical Society met Monday, March 1, at 7 p.m. at the Reception Center. President Harold Downey called the meeting to order. Lyn Miller led the opening prayer. The new public address system is being installed in the Historic Church of God. Electrical work is completed in the tin shop and other tasks are in progress. Harlene Steiner introduced Bob Adamov, who is a local mystery writer. He has authored five books and is working on two more. He told about how he researches the facts for each book. He uses the factual background and adds enough fiction to make it an interesting mystery. Put-in-Bay has been the background for and or the starting place for many of his stories. Beverly Maasz and Harlene Steiner served refreshments. Next meeting will be Monday, April 5. Members will meet at the Green Leaf Restaurant at 5 p.m. for supper and a business meeting. The 7 p.m. program will be held at the Wayne Center for the Arts. Pat Chambers will speak about pottery. There will be a coil pottery workshop. Members making pottery will be charged a fee.
