TOPS learns benefits of blueberries
On Sept. 25, TOPS OH1573 Nashville opened with pledges. Janice Tope was best weekly loser and said to drink six 8-ounce glasses of water each day. Mabel Leid was best monthly loser. Lana Rush was best weekly and monthly KOPS. The club continued on its Trip Across America contest.
Leid presented a program from “A Taste of Home.” She read an article titled “It’s Good to be Blue” telling the many virtues of blueberries. They are rich in skin-friendly vitamin K and manganese, lower the risk for cancer, and aid digestion. The vitamin E, lutein and zeaxanthin in blueberries benefit optical health. They also contain pterostibene, which protects against Reye disease.
The next meeting will be Oct. 9, with Donna Goodwill presenting the program. TOPS meets Wednesdays at the Nashville Global Methodist Church at 5:30 p.m. with weigh-in at 5 p.m. The first meeting is free.
