There was a collage of artistic talent laid out before the Tuscarawas County Art Guild at their May meeting in the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts. The guild’s 2011 art scholarship recipients displayed their artwork, along with a synopsis of their illustrations. President, Marcie Dryden of Tuscarawas, introduced the students, after reading the highlights from their submitted applications. Jodi Hupp, Dover High School art teacher, was also present for the awards presentation. Chelsea Miller attends Dover High School, where she is head of public relations for the school’s art club. Daughter of Susan and Rodney Miller of Strasburg, she plans to attend the Columbus College of Art and Design, where she will study illustration and fine arts. Amber Johnson, daughter of Kathleen and Jerry Johnson of Dover, had three projects chosen for the Ohio Govenor’s Regional Youth Art Exhibition and placed in the top 300 at the State exhibition. Johnson plans to study fine arts at Kent State University. Dryden discussed the guild’s show schedule, beginning with the School House Winery’s second anniversary, which will take place on Saturday, June 11, from noon to 7 p.m. The annual J.E. Reeve’s Victorian Home & Carriage House Ice Cream Social event is scheduled for Sunday, July 10, from noon to 4 p.m. Once again, the Tuscarawas County Art Guild will be participating in the Zoar Harvest Festival the first weekend in August as well. Refreshments were served by Levi Keim, of Beach City, and Charles Graham, of New Philadelphia. The next meeting of the Art Guild will be Tuesday, June 21. The organization is open to all visual artists and photographers of any skill level, working in any medium.
