The BBB Charitable & Educational Fund Inc. announced its scholarship essay contest for area high school seniors is now open to receive submissions.

The BBB Life Lessons Essay Contest is a theme-based essay contest that challenges students to reflect on living a life of integrity and ethics. The essays are submitted online and reviewed by a panel of judges. The top-four essays will be awarded scholarships ranging from $500-$2,500.

The contest is open to area high school seniors attending schools in Stark, Carroll and Tuscarawas counties. There is no GPA requirement to apply, and scholarship funds are used toward attending any career, technical, college, university or trade school after high school graduation.

The theme for the 2021 essay contest is integrity. The BBB’s mission is building an ethical marketplace where buyers and sellers trust each other. BBB sees trust as a function of two primary factors: integrity and performance. In the essay students are asked to describe the role of integrity in a business environment and how it affects the success of an organization.

“We are excited to provide this scholarship to students in our community again this year. There has been an exciting response the first two years of the contest, and we hope to continue to grow the program with the same momentum,” said Frank Cilona, BBB president and CEO.

The scholarship is available to any student seeking to further education after high school. “No matter what career a student chooses, they should strive to live a life centering on ethics and integrity. That is why our scholarship is different from so many others out there. We hope to provide opportunities to students that may not qualify for other traditional scholarships,” said Allyson Bussey, chairperson for the BBB Charitable & Educational Fund.

Essay submissions will be accepted through March 26. Students, teachers and parents can read more about eligibility and instructions to apply and submit entries on the website at http://bit.ly/BBBLifeLessons.
