Applications being accepted for scholarship program
Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative Inc. announced to area high school students that applications are being accepted for its 2018 scholarship program. The member-owned electric utility will award 10 cash scholarships in all, totaling $15,000.
Students will compete in two divisions (boys and girls) for scholarships of $2,500, $2,000, $1,500, $1,000 and $500 in each division.
The cooperative encourages all eligible students to apply. The contest is open to high school seniors who have a grade point average of 3.6 or better on a 4.0 scale, will be attending an accredited institution of higher learning next fall, and whose parents or guardians are members of and live in a home served by the Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative.
Local first-place winners will compete April 2018 for the state-wide Rural Electric Scholarship with scholarships of first place at $3,600, second place at $2,600, third place at $2,100, fourth place at $2,000, fifth place at $1,900, sixth place at $1,800, seventh place at $1,700, eighth place at $1,600, ninth place at $1,500 and 10th place at $1,400.
