The Strasburg Board of Education met Nov. 20 and approved a resolution of necessity of a bond issue for $10 million and to submit it to the electors and to the county auditor to determine the millage. Once the millage is determined, a second resolution must be passed to place it on the May 2025 ballot.

Superintendent Vince Lindsey said the process is just beginning to look to the future for an additional athletic complex and improvements to the football field, track, shot and discus.

Strasburg Band Director Josh Loar presented an itinerary for a band trip to Nashville, Tennessee in spring 2026.

“It has been eight years since the band went on a trip. This trip will be for seventh grade through 12th grade, and we will begin fundraising in the spring of 2025. The cost is about $1,075 per person along with chaperones,” Loar said.

Matt Carpenter, director of pupil services, gave a report on the Tiger Preschool.

“We are seeing positive growth with the children attending the preschool, and it is keeping us moving forward,” Carpenter said.

Flo Warwick volunteers in kindergarten classes, Terry Shonk in Heather Miller’s first grade and Judy Solenthaler in Sarah Henry’s fourth grade. Sheila Doerschuk, elementary principal, said the women bond, help and encourage the students and are at school every day.
