East Holmes BOE accepts 2 donations
The East Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met for a regular meeting on Oct. 17 at the Central Office.
The board did the following during the meeting:
—Recognized the following WKLM Student of the Week recipients: Zachary Hostetler, Sept. 23-27; Greta Mullet, Sept. 30 through Oct. 4; Miles Schlabach, Oct. 7-11; and Makayla Beachy, Oct. 14-18.
—Accepted the following donations: $14,000 from Berlin Village Gift Barn Ltd from the fall raffle donation/food truck Friday fundraiser at Berlin Elementary and $12,500 from Tri-County Educational Service Center to support district technology initiatives.
—Approved participating in META Solutions’ request for proposals for competitive retail electric service for the school district through the Ohio School Consortium.
—Approved a special services contract with the Holmes County Board of Developmental Disabilities for midday transportation to preschool students attending Tri-County ESC’s preschool housed in Holmes County DD buildings for the 2024-25 school year.
—Approved a resolution selecting Hammond Construction as the construction manager at risk for the phased Classroom Refresh Project.
—Accepted the following resignations: Anne Blochlinger, fourth grade at Mt. Hope, retiring at the end of the 2024-25 contractual school year; Erma Hershberger, custodian at Flat Ridge, retiring effective Jan. 14, 2025; Marvin Hershberger, custodian at PRCC, retiring effective Jan. 14, 2025; Jan Isaac, intervention specialist at Hiland, retiring at the end of the 2024-25 contractual school year; and Scott Jenkins, evening custodian at Berlin, effective Oct. 26.
—Approved all substitute personnel hired by East Holmes Local Schools and the Tri-County Educational Service Center for the 2024-25 school year.
—Approved the following placement on the certified salary schedule effective at the beginning of the 2024-25 contractual school year: Staci Seibert to BA150.
—Approved the following placement on the certified salary schedule effective Feb. 1, 2025: Michael Schaaf to Masters+35.
—Approved eight supplemental positions for the 2024-25 school year.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Nov. 15 at the East Holmes Central Office.
