The Wooster City School District will see some changes in its administrative team next month.

Melrose

The district has hired Jayme Tucker as the Melrose Elementary principal to replace Kevin Wolf, who has been hired as an administrator in another district. Tucker has served as the assistant principal at Cornerstone Elementary for the past two years. Previous to employment with Wooster City Schools, she was a literacy coach at Parkview and a teacher in the Rittman School District.

“I am excited to meet and work with the Melrose students, staff and families,” said Tucker, who resides in Wadsworth with her husband and two children.

Wooster High

Two new administrators will join the Wooster High School team this fall to fill the vacancies left by Joe Rubino and Nate Steiner, both of whom have accepted administrative roles in other districts.

Jason Douglas will serve as an assistant principal at WHS and comes to the district from Mansfield City Schools. While at Mansfield, Douglas was a middle school principal, elementary principal and elementary assistant principal.

“I am looking forward to being in an excellent school district like Wooster and contributing to the administrative team to serve our school community,” said Douglas, who resides in Mansfield with his wife and has four grown children.

Jessica Shaffner will join the WHS team as the eighth-grade assistant principal. She comes to Wooster from Mansfield City Schools, where she was an intermediate principal, middle school assistant principal, and middle school and high school science teacher.

“I’m excited to be with an age group I love and to learn more about how I can collaborate with the WHS team to continue the excellence of Wooster High School,” said Shaffner, who resides in Mansfield with her three children.

Cornerstone

Cornerstone Elementary welcomes Katie Roth as the administrative intern to fill the vacancy left by Tucker. Roth resides in Wooster in the Cornerstone District with her husband. She is leaving Dalton Local Schools, where she was a language arts teacher. She wants to broaden her impact on student achievement outside the scope of her classroom and channel her passion for education and leadership in this new role.

“I am excited to support the Cornerstone staff and families and be a part of the school community that we have grown to love,” Roth said.

“We thank Mr. Rubino, Mr. Steiner and Mr. Wolf for their work here at Wooster and wish them the best in their next chapters,” WCSD Superintendent Gabe Tudor said. “I am thrilled to have Jason, Jessica and Katie joining our administrative team and to have Jayme stepping up as the new Melrose principal. Each of them brings different strengths to our team while sharing a strong desire to support students, families and staff. I am excited for our community to meet and begin working with these great leaders.”

The new team members began serving in their positions on Aug. 1.
