Ten teens have been selected to serve on the 2021 Wayne County Fair royal court. Members of the royal court are current junior fair board members who have applied, been voted on by their peers and have gone through an interview process in August with a panel of selected judges. The results are kept confidential until the evening of the coronation when the king, queen, prince and princess are crowned.

The Wayne County Fair Royal Court Coronation Ceremony will take place Saturday, Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. in the Event Center on the fairgrounds.

2021 queen candidates

Christine Anfang is the daughter of William and Roseanne Anfang. She is a senior at Triway High School, and she would like to attend college and major in political science to become a lawyer. She is a member of the Springville Cowpokes, where she has shown beef heifers, steers and feeder calves and done still projects including photography and woodworking. She serves on Junior Leaders and has served as a 4-H camp counselor. Her hobbies are playing tennis, being outside and photography.

Libby Grossniklaus is the daughter of Troy and Mandy Dague of Burbank and granddaughter of Rick and Julie Grossniklaus of Wooster. She is a graduate of the Wayne County Schools Career Center and Norwayne High School and is now attending OSU ATI in Wooster to study ag communications. She has been in 4-H for nine years and is a member of the Wayne County Cousins 4-H club. Her projects have included market beef, market chickens, pygmy goats, market hogs, rabbits, and a variety of FCS and still projects. She is involved in the Wayne County Junior Fair Board and serves as the superintendent of the beef committee. She also is a 4-H junior camp counselor and president of the Wayne County Food and Fashion Board.

Caitlyn DeMassimo is the 2020 Wayne County Junior Fair princess. In the spring she graduated from Norwayne High School and will attend Muskingum University this fall to study special education and business. In 2016 she started her own horse-riding lesson business that she has been running for the last five years. She has an interest in teaching and helping others be their best. She has loved showing horses since she was 10 years old, and prior to that, she showed dairy heifers. Currently, she is the president of the Kova Riders 4-H Club, junior fair superintendent of the horse committee and assistant secretary of the Wayne County Junior Fair Board.

Morgan Johnson is the daughter of Russ and Molly Johnson of Wooster. She is a 10-year 4-H member and currently serves as the president of Country Strong 4-H club. She has shown breeding sheep, market lambs, breeding goats, market goats, breeding rabbits, market rabbits, breeding poultry, market poultry and beef heifers. She also is trying something new this year and taking a market hog. She is currently vice president of the junior fair board and is serving as a co-superintendent of the sheep committee. She has served as a junior camp counselor, Cloverbud camp counselor, Awareness Team member and junior leader during her time in 4-H. She graduated from Smithville High School in May and is attending OSU ATI, majoring in animal science. She works as a farm hand for DB Farms and Ramseyer Farms.

Kailynn Wickens is the daughter of Mike and Heather Wickens. She is a senior at Smithville High School and plans to attend Ohio State ATI to study animal science. She is a 12-year member and the president of Smithie Whiz Kids 4-H club. She enjoys showing dairy goats, dairy market goats, market hogs and breeding rabbits. She is a part of the junior fair board and Junior Leaders and has been a 4-H junior camp counselor, 4-H Cloverbud camp counselor, and president, student advisor and reporter in her FFA chapter.

Morgan Vodika is the daughter of Jason and Tina Vodika. She is a junior at the Wayne County Schools Career Center. She plans to one day attend college to become an ag teacher. She is an active member and is currently the secretary of Baughman Guys & Gals 4-H club. She enjoys showing market beef, carcass beef, beef feeders and market lambs. She is on the junior fair board.

2021 king candidates

Benjamin Rhoads is the son of Steve and Barb Rhoads and is a junior at Smithville High School. His plans for the future involve attending Ohio State for soil sciences. He is in his 10th year in 4-H and is a part of the Smithie Whiz Kids 4-H club. He enjoys showing rabbits and pigs. He is involved with Junior Leaders, is a 4-H camp counselor and is on the junior fair board. During his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, trap shooting and spending time with his family.

Ethan Gasser is the son of Nick and Jill Gasser. He is a junior at the Wayne County Schools Career Center, and his plans for the future include being involved in agriculture. He is an active member of the Canaan Country Cousins 4-H Club. He enjoys showing his market steer and feeder calves. He is a 4-H camp counselor and on the livestock judging team and junior fair board.

Gavin Maibach is the son of Scott and Mandy Maibach. He is a sophomore at Norwayne High School. His plans for the future are to work at Maibach Tractor as a precision machinist. He is a seven-year member of the Wayne County Cousins 4-H club, where he shows market hogs. He is an active member of Junior Leaders and junior fair board and also is a 4-H camp counselor.

Gavin Snyder is the son of Josh and Candace Snyder. He is a junior at the Wayne County Schools Career Center. In the future he hopes to grow his herd of milking cows and operate a dairy farm of his own. He is a member of the Milton Shamrocks and shows dairy steers, dairy feeders, dairy heifers and a welding still project. He is a member of the junior fair board and Junior Leaders and has been a 4-H camp counselor in training.
