Local author Jim Kinsey signing first book at Dover Library
Jim Kinsey of New Philadelphia will be at the Dover Public Library on Tuesday, April 11 from 5-7 p.m. to autograph his first book, "Unwilling Warriors: Surviving the Vietnam War," a story about a local boy who answered the call.
According to Kinsey, “It is a story of daily survival, human bonding, unspeakable carnage, moments of terror and even laughter at the absurdity of it all. It’s the story of so many that can no longer speak for themselves.”
Kinsey graduated from New Philadelphia High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army infantry for two years from 1969-70. He became an infantry platoon sergeant and fought with a small group of soldiers in the mountainous jungles near the Laotian border for a year. Upon returning home, he earned degrees in mechanical and industrial engineering and eventually taught at Kent State Tuscarawas for 33 years.
“It is one of the best books about Vietnam that I have ever read,” said Jim Gill, director of the Dover Public Library. “We are honored to host his first book-signing here at the library.”
Kinsey will sell and sign his book in front of the fireplace. The cost of the book will be $15. Cash and checks will be accepted.
The library is located at 525 N. Walnut St.
