Louden Dixon, an incoming sophomore and returning state qualifier for West Holmes, completed his week at the USA Wrestling-US Marine Corps 16U Freestyle and Greco Roman National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota on Friday, July 21 with a 2-2 record in Greco Roman.

Dixon, competing at 152 pounds for Team Ohio, opened his Greco Roman tournament with an 8-0 technical fall victory at 2:35 over Isaak De La Luz of Team Arizona in the championship round of 128. Dixon dropped into the consolation rounds after suffering a 9-2 decision setback to Nicholas Hernandez of Team California in the round of 64.

Dixon stayed alive with an 8-0 tech fall win at 51 seconds over Gabe Banister of Team Wyoming before falling from the tournament in the consolation round of 32 after a hard-fought 7-5 loss to Brodie Melzoni of Team Tennessee.

Dixon competed in the freestyle tournament on Monday, July 17, finishing 1-2. He opened the tourney with a 15-4 tech fall victory at 3:49 over Gabriel Dorman of Team Pennsylvania. In the championship round of 64, Dixon had to rally against Deacon Pickett of Team Nevada but came up short, dropping an 8-7 decision to the reigning Nevada high school state runner-up. One of Pickett’s coaches is 2013 West Holmes graduate Max Rohskopf, a three-time state placer for the Knights who currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Needing a win to stay alive, Dixon matched up with Jonah Erdely of Team Pennsylvania in the consolation round of 64. Unfortunately, Dixon’s first-ever Fargo freestyle tournament ended with a 10-0 tech fall loss at 59 seconds.
