Rotary Parade of Flags now taking orders
The 15th season of the Wooster Rotary Parade of Flags is set to kick off Memorial Day weekend. Over 2,000 American flags will fly in front of residences, schools, businesses, local government offices and the Wayne County Public Library. The display of the nation’s colors is a tribute to all military who currently serve or have served the country, and it represents a community-wide collaboration in Wayne County.
Although the program is spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Wooster, dozens of community groups are involved, and hundreds of area residents participate each year. The Wooster Lacrosse Club, O’Huddle and Wooster Noon Lions — just to name a few — are longtime supporters and beneficiaries of the Parade of Flags. Their groups earn money for each flag subscription they are responsible for fulfilling at each of the five designated flag holidays: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Patriots’ Day and Veterans Day.
All flag subscription proceeds go back into the community. Some funds are applied to Rotary scholarships, which are awarded to local students each year. Other proceeds go toward initiatives serving local veterans.
There is still time to order a subscription for the 2023 season. Visit https://woosterrotary.org/ to learn more and to secure a flag.
