First Care moves to Dover's north end
Union Hospital First Care, the hospital’s urgent care service, is moving its operations and will open Saturday, Sept. 23 inside its new location at the new UPS Family Health Center North building in north Dover, directly across the street from Buehler’s Fresh Foods.
First Care, which has been located in the Oxford Center at Dover for many years, will be open at the Oxford location through Friday and then will open at 8 a.m. in its new location at 110 Dublin Drive in Dover.
The new location for First Care is accessible off exit 85 of I-77 (Schneider’s Crossing Road exit) and has its own dedicated entrance, plenty of parking and modern patient facilities.
“Patients and their families will notice the improvements for their care at First Care as soon as they walk in the door at the new location,” said Darrin Lautenschleger, director of community relations at Union Hospital. “A large, clearly marked registration desk is located just inside the entrance, and staff members will be there to assist them immediately.”
The new location also will provide more patient exam rooms and technology for patient care.
“The location just off I-77 also is more convenient for travel to First Care for patients in Tuscarawas and surrounding counties,” Lautenschleger said. “We immediately identified the new location as being ideal for our patients to access First Care services by utilizing I-77 as the primary travel route.”
Union Hospital First Care is open seven days a week on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed on major holidays.
First Care offers immediate medical services for patients who do not require the resources of the UH Lauren Emergency Center or at times when their family doctor is not available. Patients are seen on a walk-in basis, and no appointment is needed.
Physician services are provided by community-based members of the Union Hospital medical staff. Laboratory testing and X-ray services also are offered on site to First Care patients.
As a department of Union Hospital, First Care provides a quick and accurate flow of patient medical information to the patient's family physician and Union Hospital. First Care accepts AultCare, Medicare, Medicaid and most other insurance plans.
The UPS Family Health Center North family medical practice, also operated by Union Hospital, opened earlier this year inside the building at a separate entrance.
