Every year the American Public Health Association brings communities together in observance of National Public Health Week, which took place the first full week of April.

The week celebrated and honored public health workers, raised awareness about top public health issues and rallied communities around the goal of creating the healthiest nation. The theme for NPHW 2021 is “Building Bridges to Better Health.”

The week kicked off with representatives from the New Philadelphia City Health Department and the Tuscarawas County Health Department receiving a signed proclamation from Tuscarawas County commissioners Al Landis, Joe Sciarretti and Chris Abbuhl. Throughout the week the health departments shared educational messages on social media to highlight public health efforts.

Local health departments are working within the Tuscarawas County communities and with public and private sector businesses to make decisions with the public’s health in mind and to be advocates for positive change. Learn more at www.NPHW.org.
