Whit's End has new executive director
Krista Asher, MSW, LISWS, has been named the executive director of Whit's End Community Place Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing essential cancer support services to Wayne County and the surrounding areas. Asher is joining Whit's End from Wooster Community Hospital, where she is the manager of care management.
“We have a longstanding relationship with Whit’s End and aspire to preserve and potentially expand upon the impactful work they have accomplished in our community,” said Bill Sheron, president/CEO of Wooster Community Hospital.
Asher's experience in the field of social work and care management make her an ideal fit for leading Whit's End in its mission to provide free cancer support services to those in need.
“Krista is an empathetic leader who will effectively carry forth Whit’s End and Wooster Community Hospital’s shared mission," said Laura Newberry-Yokley, Whit’s End board member. "She possesses a profound understanding of Whit’s End's vision as a community haven for all cancer patients, caregivers and survivors. Her dynamic ability to engage with the community will undoubtedly accelerate the realization of that vision.”
“As a Whit’s End board member," Andrew Vaeth said, "it's been so gratifying to see the team stay true to the mission of providing a growing lineup of free services to patients and caregivers who otherwise would have to drive long distances for this type of care. We are all thrilled to welcome Krista as our executive director to continue to grow the mission and provide even more services to the community.”
Since its establishment in 2016, the nonprofit Whit’s End Community Place Inc. has worked to bring essential, cost-free cancer support services. In 2020 Whit’s End entered a partnership with WCH. This collaboration has allowed Whit's End to expand its reach and resources.
Through a collaboration with Wooster Community Hospital, Whit's End has been able to provide an array of services. These encompass teletherapy, massage therapy, HealthPoint Health & Wellness day passes, Flex Yoga class passes, the assistance of a child life specialist and access to a lending library.
