Letter to the Editor

To the Editor, On Friday and Saturday, Nov. 5-6, the American Legion Post 205 of Dover, held their third year of Gifts for Yanks Day. Last year’s two-day event was a success and all donations go to Columbus for distribution. Ohio veterans in Ohio hospitals are asked to send a list of what they would like to have for a birthday or for Christmas, be it a phone, radio, TV, phone cards or other needs. Money from the donations are then used to buy these gifts. Post 205 wants to express their sincere gratitude to Parkside Buehlers for the use of their lobby and help. Our big thank you goes to the many, many patrons of Buehlers for their generous donations and prayers for our veterans. There were many stories shared, and it warmed one’s heart. We were sorry we did not have the time to hear all of them. Post 205 also wants to thank the recruiters for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and National Guard for the giveaways, cups, pens, pencils, hats, shirts, etc. What a wonderful feeling it was to not only to count the money, but to remember those of you who gave - young and old, walkers, canes and strollers. Thank you again for your donations and most important, keep your prayers coming for all our men and women in uniform. American Legion Post 205, Dover
